What is AVF?

AVF is a national association with 350 local branches throughout France (including Lyon!) designed to help people who have recently moved to the area.

What do they do?

Qualified AVF personnel listen to your needs provide you with the information to answer your list of questions. Oh, and it's free. AVF is staffed by volunteers who want to help you with the transition.

The AVF has lots of meetings, tours, etc. Every Tuesday evening the have an open house with drinks and snacks and conversations. Throughout the week they have conversation courses in French, Spanish, Italian, etc. And once per month or so they organize some kind of outing like this. It's a pretty cool organization to be a part of.

Great link, thanks! I hope you also add in the website info for expats and in general new people arriving in Lyon as it's useful (just as the restaurant info!)
