Breaking news!
The American firm Starbucks, the world leader in the retail coffee and whole-bean market, will open its first coffeehouse and retail store in Lyon at the end of November 2007. This is its first shop in France outside of the Paris region. Starbucks will recreate its typical atmosphere in a surface area of 250 square meters on rue de la République, near the Lyon Opera House and City Hall, and hopes to be able to open other shops in the new Confluence or Carré de Soie quarters, if the first shop is a hit. The multinational, created in 1971 in Seattle, now operates in 43 countries through 14,000 coffeehouses patronized by 40 million customers every week.
